Salt Marsh Publications has published eight historical novels, a mystery, five children's books, and a book of poetry. The two Hillsborough novels are based on the events surrounding a real family during the American Civil War. Both Defending Hillsborough and Reconstructing Hillsborough have been accepted by the North Carolina Public Schools' State Board of Education as suitable for high school students in their study of the Civil War. The third and fourth historical novels, Florida Shadows and Florida Secrets, involve the construction of the railroad in Southwest Florida--from Arcadia to Boca Grande--describe the flora and fauna of the area, and bring in Florida's history in the Seminole Indian wars. The third novel of the trilogy, Florida Sunset, moves all of the characters from the first two books to the new town of Venice in 1925 and relates its historical beginning. Surviving Sarasota, begins in 1851 and tells the story of William and Mary Jane Whitaker, the first Americans to settle in what is now Sarasota County, Florida. The novel relates their friendship with Seminole Chief Billy Bowlegs and recounts their experiences during the Third Seminole War and the American Civil War. Over the Bridge tells the story of five high school seniors in a small town in West Virginia in 1941 who find their plans for graduation--when they will go "over the bridge" into nearby Maryland and the rest of the world--drastically changed by the news of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Venice Dreamers highlights 31 men and women who have contributed their time and talents to the town of Venice, Florida.
The mystery, Lorinda's Legacy, is based on an actual murder in 1909 and the ensuing trial.
The five-book set of illustrated children's books is called The Little Green Monkey Stories. These books are suitable for pre-school through approximately third grade.
Alone, the poetry book, is a collection of poems, which is illustrated with the author's own photographs.
